“…’Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?’ ‘No, Lord,’ she said. And Jesus said, ‘Neither do I. Go and sin no more’” (John 8:10-11).
Jesus had this conversation with a woman who was caught in the act of adultery. His act of love, kindness and mercy saved this woman from death as was the custom of the law and times. But Jesus didn’t judge this woman, even though he could have. Jesus is living out a powerful example for us to follow here. Do not judge people, anyone, unless it is done in biblically, righteously, and not hypocritically.
In John 3:17 Jesus informs us of the fact that “…God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
All of us are sinners, and guilty of deserving a horrendous fate. However, through Christ’s love, compassion, mercy and grace, we are offered salvation through Him. If we stop judging others, we can put our focus on advancing God’s kingdom. If we stop judging, we can truly listen, understand, and exercise love toward others.
I would like to suggest we all follow the example of Jesus and allow His awesome power and compassion to flow through us by not lowering ourselves to the level of judging others.
